(Note: some of these commands are for PC users only. Sorry, Mac users, but we're working on accommodating you, too...)
Below is a list of those shortcuts, in no particular order:
You can hold your CTRL key to select multiple solar panels in the QuickSolar Design Tool. This is more helpful when picking individual panels in a small group.
To select a large group of panels at once, use the Select icon on your design toolbar, and drag a box. Watch this short video tutorial on selecting & manipulating panels in QuickSolar.
With any single solar panel or group of panels selected, simply press CTRL+C to copy your selection.
I use this feature almost exclusively when adding a single panel-- simply select an existing panel, then press CTRL+C to clone it. This cuts down on time spent moving your mouse all the way up to the "Add" icon again, and back down to place a new panel.
It's also helpful when copying a ground-mount array into multiple identical arrays.
Or, if you're designing multiple rows of modules on a flat roof design, simply select your first row, and press CTRL+C to copy a new row behind it (bonus tip: use the Distance Tool to measure between rows-- watch this GIF to see this in action).
If you want to take a step backwards, use CTRL+Z to undo almost any action taken in the design tool.
Multiple steps backwards can be taken, so you can keep pressing CTRL+Z when trying to undo a long string of actions.
The "nudge" action will override the "stickiness" of panels, which is sometimes the only way to move a single panel a few inches away from another.
This is a great feature for designing around those tiny 4" roof vents, or if you just want some more flexibility in your panel layout.
This can be easier than using the buttons on the screen. With your keyboard's arrow keys, you're able to hold them down and rotate your panel's azimuth much faster.
Use this in the Roof Plane tool, as well, to adjust the azimuth of an existing array.
You can also use your keyboard's up & down arrow keys to adjust the tilt of your panels. Again, hold them down to move things along.
Warning: do NOT use the "Backspace" key in lieu of the DEL key! For some devices, this will cause you to go back in your browser window, which may lead to the loss of unsaved work.
This is applicable to QuickSolar when starting a new project on your Pro Dashboard. Use TAB to quickly move from First Name, then to Last Name, and so forth...
Bonus: when you get to the end of the form, and you've entered your customer's e-mail address, press TAB+SPACE bar to select the big green "Continue" button.
If you want to change one panel from portrait to landscape, or vice versa, simply select the panel and right-click it.
This can be done also by clicking the "portrait / landscape" icon on your design toolbar with any one panel selected.
In fact, any of these tips can be achieved using the icons & buttons on the screen. But with your mouse in one hand, and your keyboard keys underneath the other, these keyboard shortcuts should help you become a more efficient designer in QuickSolar.
