Hypocrisy on First Amendment rights Revealed by Exxon Mobile CEO

The hypocrisy is strong in this one.

Yesterday, we reported that The Guardian (@guardian ) was banned by Exxon Mobile from attending their Annual General Meeting, on account of their unfavorable & one-sided reporting on global climate change.

Then, during that meeting, Exxon Mobile CEO Rex Tillerson then had the audacity to applaud his own openness in allowing freedom of expression from all sides, a seemingly open embracing of First Amendment rights...the very rights they seem content with stripping from journalists covering their AGM.

Said Tillerson during his speech (that journalists in attendance were forbidden to record): "The fact that people have different opinions on climate change; they have every right to their opinion, whether we agree with it or not - I will support their right to say so." #Quoteoftheweek

Look up.

You probably can't see it with the naked eye. But somewhere in space, orbiting around our planet, is still the first solar-powered satellite to be launched into space, more than 58 years later.
Still there. Still spinning our globe.

We tend to think of solar panels as a new technology, but in fact, they're one of the most prolific Throwback Thursday technologies that we have.

Here are 4 of the oldest solar-powered devices, still used today...

Do I need to wash my solar panels?

Q: Do I need to wash my solar panels?
A: It may be a good idea

Depending on where you live, mother nature may be kind enough to wash your solar panels for you-- periodic rainfall may be sufficient to keep your panels soot & bird poop free.

But if you live in a more arid climate, it's a good idea to wash your panels down every few months, or when you notice that they're looking a little dirty. A good quality soft brush and a squeegee with a plastic blade on one side and a cloth covered sponge on the other coupled with a long extension can make for the perfect tools allowing you to stay on the ground. Use a hose with a suitable nozzle to allow the stream of water to reach the panels.

Energymatters.com has some more useful tips on keeping your solar panels clean & firing out maximum output. Of course, as the author notes, always take proper safety precautions if you're going to clean your panels yourself: http://ow.ly/CewR300g86l #MythMonday
